Starting and finishing

  • If you chose to write a story make sure it has a proper begining and ending.

  • Remember it is meant to be a short story not part of a story.

Structure

  • Aim to write several (3-5) paragraphs, not just one long paragraph.

Starting a story

  • Make sure that you have at least one more sentence in the first paragraph after the sentence you are given.

  • This should include any background information you need to give, for example, about the people or the place, and the first part of the story.

Examples:

  • This should mean that each paragraph is several sentences, not just one.

Ending your story

Remember! Make sure the story has a point

  • The final part of the story should include a sentence at the end that finishes the story in an entertaining way.

Answer A:-

While I was waiting for my uncle to come home, I watched TV. I was watching the news when a man walked in. He wasn't my uncle! I was in my uncle’s old flat. He hadn’t told me his new address. The man always left a key under the mat because once he had lost his key.

Answer B:-

I rang the wrong doorbell. A very old man opened the door. He thought I was his granddaughter, I stand and talk to him. He told me about his life. After half an hour I am leaving. I went next door to my friend's flat, it was very late. All our friends were in the city centre.
